Once your bedroom is free from dirt and dust, you’ll then want to take the time to organize your belongings. Most people are shocked at how different their rooms look like after completing these two tasks, as they make such a dramatic difference without you even realizing.

One of the best things about your bedroom, is the fact that it’s..yours! For this reason, you’ll want to take some time to figure out how you want your room to reflect you. If you have specific interests, this is a great time to come up with creative ways to incorporate those interests into the overall decor of your room. For example, if you’re a scuba diving enthusiast, you might want to strategically place pieces of coral throughout your room; reflections like this are simple to come up with and do a good job of making your space feel welcoming.

If you have a cluttered bedroom, this would be a good time to go through your belongings and figure out what is worth keeping, and what should be sold. With the money you make from items you sell, you can treat yourself to a small shopping trip where you can find new accessories for your room. Bed material, wall hangings, drapes, etc., are all inexpensive items that you can replace once in a while to give your room an updated feeling.

If you’re someone who tends to have trouble getting to sleep at night, or you don’t feel any different in your bedroom, than you do in your office, then a simple change like softly colored, blue and white bedding could make all the difference in the world, and help you relax much more.

When most people think of pillows, they think of plain, white pillows from little house on the prairie, am I right? Well if you’re one of these people, you’d actually be sadly mistaken and are probably missing out on all of the fun and inviting pillow options floating around out there! If you can think of a design or texture, there’s probably a pillow that matches. From different fabrics, shapes, sizes, color pallets, textures, and  embroideries, there are tons of options for you to choose from and take advantage of in the pillow department.

Accenting your bedroom with different, random, and funky accessories is another easy way to spunk things up. If you just go to Target, Marshall’s, or any of those same kinds of stores, you’ll find a whole slew of random accessories that you can personally modify to make your ‘own’. Making a weekend project out of this is a great activity to involve your kids in too if you’re willing to ready to dodge some of their ‘great’ decorating advise!

Sometimes, spending money on something like those storage benches people put at the foot of their beds feels like a waste of money. In my personal opinion- it is. There are so many different options out there for creating a much more unique and inviting bench for the foot of your bed, that there’s really no point in going out and buying the same one hundreds of other people have.

Buying blue and white bedding is one thing that you can’t MacGyver on your own, but as for all the other bedroom accessories, there are plenty of creative routes you can take in order to create a more unique, and inexpensive outcome.
